The Candela Foundation aims to create an inclusive, open environment supporting scientific exchange. The organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of hate speech, bullying, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
All participants — organizers, speakers, staff, and attendees — must adhere to these principles. The policy applies to everyone involved with Candela-organized events.
Reports of misconduct can be submitted by:
Documentation of relevant details (names, dates, times, locations, statements) is encouraged. While anonymous reports are not accepted, Candela commits to maintaining confidentiality where possible and protects reporters from retaliation.
Expression spreading or promoting hatred based on intolerance, including xenophobia, anti-Semitism, discrimination against minorities and migrants.
Repeated intentional mistreatment causing physical or psychological harm through verbal, physical, or social means.
Unjust treatment based on race, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or other personal attributes unrelated to scientific merit.
Unwanted behaviour creating hostile environments, including derogatory comments, threats, or offensive contact.
Gender- or sexuality-based harassment including unwelcome advances or conduct that creates an offensive environment.
Negative actions against those reporting misconduct or participating in investigations.
Candela investigates reports promptly, interviewing all relevant parties. If a violation is found, consequences range from a formal warning and suspension from the event through to a permanent ban from Candela-organised events or referral to law enforcement, depending on the severity of the conduct.
